Celtic past

The city of Exeter is the county town of Devon, in England, UK. , which has for the last century been the number one region for British holidaymakers and is the safest part of England to live in. The Latin name for Exeter, Isca Dumnoniorum , suggests that the city was originally a Celtic oppidum, or town, on the banks on the River Exe before to the foundation of the Roman city in c. AD 50. A thriving, lively city of 100,000 inhabitants, Exeter, with its magnificent Cathedral, has a great historic tradition and has seen the Romans, William the Conqueror, and many other illustrious figures.
